Ubon Ratchathani University creates educational opportunities for financially disadvantaged students by providing financial aid in the form of scholarships.

In the 2024 fiscal year, the university has allocated funds to support undergraduate students as follows:

1. Scholarships: A total of 1,406 scholarships amounting to 18,181,160 baht, which includes 718 scholarships from internal funding sources totaling 8,676,500 baht and 688 scholarships from external funding sources totaling 9,511,660 baht.

2.  Student Loan Fund (Provided by the Government Savings Bank Education Loan Fund): Supporting 8,095 students with a total amount of 270,870,050 baht.

3. Work-Study Scholarships: A total of 141 scholarships amounting to 510,000 baht.

5. Ubon Ratchathani University has schemes to support poor students from low or lower-middle income countries (e.g. offering free education, grants).

Ubon Ratchathani University has awarded scholarships to international students from low- to middle-income countries for the 2024 academic year, with a total of 10 scholarships granted as follows: 3 scholarships for Cambodia, 3 for Myanmar, 1 for Bhutan, 1 for Timor-Leste, 1 for Laos, and 1 for Vietnam. Additionally, the university has approved 19 more scholarships for the 2024 fiscal year, allocated as follows: 10 for undergraduate programs, 5 for master’s programs, and 4 for doctoral programs.

  • Consulting: Sending professors and experts to provide consultancy to 40 new businesses, divided into sectors such as livestock (27 businesses), food (4 businesses), standard systems (7 businesses), and agriculture (2 businesses). The initiative is expected to generate an economic impact from sales, investment, and employment, estimated at 21 million baht.
  • Access to University Resources: Allowing the community to use laboratory spaces and prototype factories (pilot plants) to develop 43 products, as well as offering product quality testing and analysis services for 34 products.

3. Ubon Ratchathani University organizes training or programs to improve access to basic services for all.

Ubon Ratchathani University is involved in activities that make it easier for local residents to access essential basic services, as follows:

  • Health Promotion:The university organized training for 25 village health volunteers (VHVs) in Bung Mai Subdistrict to establish a day care center that provides daytime health services for the elderly. This ensures that elderly individuals receive proper health care.

4. Ubon Ratchathani University participates in policy making at local, regional, national and/or global level to implement programs and policies to end poverty in all forms.

Ubon Ratchathani University is involved in setting policies at the local, regional, national, and/or global levels to implement projects and policies aimed at eradicating all forms of poverty, as follows:

1. Faculty of Nursing, Ubon Ratchathani University has developed a training program for caregivers of the elderly (Caregiver Course) with a 70-hour curriculum. The program collaborates with Health Center 10 to use the 70-hour caregiver training course (Intermediate level) from the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and the Wang Kang Hung Health Promoting Hospital in Bung Mai Subdistrict, Warin Chamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, which serves as a practical training site for elderly care in the community. The goal is to develop knowledge and personnel in elderly care, ensuring they have the understanding and skills to care for the health of the elderly in communities effectively. The objectives of the program are:

  1. To provide participants with knowledge, understanding, and a positive attitude toward elderly health care.
  2. To equip participants with the skills required for elderly care.
  3. To support the long-term care (LTC) and palliative care efforts of community-based organizations.
  4. The target audience for this activity includes elderly caregivers and village health volunteers (VHVs).

 


 

2. Ubon Ratchathani University organizes activities to enhance the capabilities of local enterprises by improving management, innovation, and technology in alignment with local industries. The objective is to upgrade local industries by developing management efficiency, innovation, and technology that are compatible with the local industry sectors, leading to increased competitiveness. Five businesses participated in the program:

  3. Nanchana Farm, Nam Plick Subdistrict, Mueang District, Amnat Charoen Province.
  4. Community Enterprise: Agricultural Product Processing from Soybeans, Huay Subdistrict, Pathum Ratchawongsa District, Amnat Charoen Province.
  5. Community Enterprise: Rai Pluk Suk, Na Waeng Subdistrict, Khemarat District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.
